L5R - The Great Dusk

The Chain of Dogs, Chapter One

In the wake of Toku’s death, Heichi Nobunaga has assumed control of the Minor Clan Alliance’s forces. Nobunaga begins to take a more proactive, ambitious plan with the Alliance. As the heat of summer becomes oppressive in the south, however, riots break out in Zakyo Toshi, a city at the edge of the Shinomen Forest that holds interests of the Hare, Falcon, and Boar Clans, in addition to a great deal of interests of the Great Clans. The Eighth Company of the Eighth Legion find themselves dispatched to the city to protect the MCA’s interests. Things are not what they seem, however, in Zakyo Toshi, and the decisions of a few minor officers could have dramatic political ramifications across Rokugan.

Before that, there is business in Musume Mura to attend to, a quiet little village where nothing could go wrong.

The Test of the Emerald Champion: Part 2

“Friends and loyalists, I only did what any lord would do, to do what my vassals could not do. Shame and dishonour where unjustly heaped upon them by the unworthy, for no reason other than petty politics. Honourable men cannot live under the same sky as dishonourable dogs, who would twist our sacred ceremonies and institution for personal gains. The shogunate knows this, for they are honourable men, indeed, all honourable men. A samurai protects, and if I cannot protect the honour of those who would follow me, then I am not a samurai. I killed Dairu honourably and he went to his ancestors with honours befitting his lineage. I will follow shortly, with a satisfied mind, in a manner befitting of a samurai.” – Toku

The Test of the Emerald Champion: Part 1

The Emerald Champion, Seppun Toshiken, has retired. The mantle of the Emperor’s champion lies vacant.

You have not been invited to compete.

The Test is one of the great celebrations of the empire and the Emperor has invited the new Minor Clan Alliance to arrange for the Imperial Court and Bakufu, along with the Great Clans, a demonstration of their skills. There shall be tests, duels, and a variety of entertainments. In all, it sounds like a bright start to celebrate your promotions to the rank of gunso and prove your worth to the empire. Of course, the shame of failure in any event would be unbearable and stain the honour of the Alliance.

No pressure.
